Famous Pug's and Pug Owners.
By the mid 1800's, two distinct strains began to appear and dominate English bloodlines. ...The Morrison strain is said to have descended from the bloodlines of Queen Charlotte, wife of George III. The second strain, founded on import bloodlines from Russia and perhaps Hungary, was that of Lord and Lady Willoughby d'Eresby. The Windsor Pugs belonging to Queen Victoria were said to have come from both the Morrison and Willoughby strains. It was Queen Victoria who banned ear cropping in Pugs, citing the procedure as unnecessary cruelty.
The invasion of China during the reign of Tsu-Hsi.... brought many new dogs into England. Pugs imported from China in the late 1800's more closely resembled today's Pugs...
Early Pugs of the 1800's were documented in a variety of colors. The preferred color was golden fawn, with variations in shades ranging from light fawn or cream to a golden apricot color. It is in this color range that the Morrison Pugs are best known. Willoughby Pugs were described as a cold, fawn color with some references to a silver-gray or stone gray color. The black mask was not as common and considered a great asset, as was the "Prince" mark, known today as the thumbprint. Many references exist to indicate that some strains of fawn Pugs had a fair amount of white on the legs and chest.
Queen Victoria is thought to have owned two silver-gray Pugs, Ayah and Mops. References to other silver Pugs are scarce, but a "blue" Pug was reported to have been born in 1913 and was advertised in The Standard as a proven sire of blue puppies.
[Black Pugs]
...Lady Brassey of Sussex, England imported two black Pugs from China in 1877. Queen Victoria owned several black Pugs... with photographs ... appearing in her albums as early as 1854.
The Pugs descending from Lady Brassey's [black Pug] bloodlines often had a white chest and white feet. Many of Queen Victoria's own black [Pugs] ... descended from the Brassey strain. The Mortival strain of Pugs became the first bloodline of black Pugs in England to be virtually clear of white.

Pug Parent Celebrities and their pugs
Hugh Laurie (aka Dr House) is rumored to be owned by a pug, based on a photo with one, but haven't gotten confirmation on that yet (if it's true, just one more reason to love House!), Lena Horne, Patti Reagan Davis (daughter of Ronald and Nancy Reagan) — possibly has/had a pug named Gracie?, Sammy Davis Jr., Dick Clark, Andy Warhol, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Woody Harrelson, Sally Jessy Raphael, George Clooney (however not sure the reports aren't just assumptions and that the adorable pug puppy sharing the camera with George wasn't just a photo prop in a photography shoot…), Beverly Mitchell, Lou Ferrigno (although see interview where he refers to his "pug" as "half Maltese and half poodle"…I think there's some confusion here, Lou), Tommy Hilfiger, Leontien Zijlaard-Van Moorsel (2000/2004 Olympic medalist dutch cyclist), Marquise de Pompadour (mistress of King Louis XV of France), King George III and Queen Charlotte (UK), Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco (Grace Kelly), and Ann-Margret (actress) who has been said to own five pugs but the only credible reference found to a mention of a dog is in a Larry King interview where Ann-Margret mentions "Missy, a little Maltese" as her one dog (along with having six cats). It's even been claimed that François-Marie Arouet (more commonly known by his pen name "Voltaire") was a pug owner.
Various sources report that Paris Hilton had gotten a pug…to go along with her chihuahua…but believe they're just making false assumptions from these publicity pictures. (Poor thing does look scared and not too happy about the way Paris is handling him/her.)
Various sources also claim that Jason Priestley (actor) supposedly owns/owned a pug called Dempsey, but his site only mentions a "14-year old French Bulldog – Swifty Lugnutz – and a 3-year old Alaskan Malamute, Pris". Jason dated Christine Elise, who owns a pug named Dempsey, and I believe this is where the confusion comes from…
